Our Terroir
The richness of our wines is based on a mosaic of soils. Gravel, sand, clay-limestone, and limestone schist give our vintages their diversity and personality.
The richness of our wines is based on a mosaic of soils. Gravel, sand, clay-limestone, and limestone schist give our vintages their diversity and personality.
Gravelly soils store the sun's heat during the day and release it at night. They provide excellent drainage and promote even ripening of the grapes. They give the wines elegance, structure, and balance.
The sandy soils, characteristic of the Sauternes plots, provide finesse and lightness. Ideal for white grape varieties, they reveal all the delicacy of the estate's sweet wines.
The clay-limestone hillsides, typical of the Cadillac appellation, combine power and freshness. The clay nourishes the vine in depth, while the limestone provides minerality and balance. They produce refined sweet white wines with great ageing potential.
Limestone schist soils are rare and precious. Rich in minerals, they produce characterful vintages like the Cuvée Héritage , renowned for its tension, depth and unique elegance.
